It is Well With My Soul
Horatio G. Spafford, 1873

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blessed assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
Even so, it is well with my soul.

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

How oft we get lost in the surf of everyday life. Tossed about by the waves of oppression. Left in the cold dark deep. Yet the Lord says to have faith. It is well, it is well. For in the end, if we accept the offering of the Lord, we will be exalted on high, and the first shall be last, the last shall be first. We must not be focused on being lost in the sea, but on the whole of our existence. For when we look around, we see that everyone has their challenges, and that we are not alone in the waves. Join hands and gain strength from each other. Keep each other afloat. Share the great message that "The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,Even so, it is well with my soul!" For sometimes, the greatest angels are the ones we can see, our friends and neighbors. For together, we can proclaim that Christ has shed his blood for our souls and together we can rest from our labors in his kingdom.
